Add Your First Gear Item

You add gear from the Inventory section. For a full reference on every field, see Inventory → Add gear.

Quick version

1. Go to Inventory and select Add gear.
2. Enter a Name and Category — these are the only required fields.
3. Optionally add a photo, identity details (manufacturer, model, serial number), and financial details (purchase price, replacement cost).
4. Save. OneTake takes you to the new item's detail page.

Why the financial fields matter

You can save an item with just a name and category, but adding the money fields unlocks the rest of OneTake:

• Purchase price and a depreciation method let OneTake track the item's current value over time.
• Replacement cost is what marks an item as insured. Items with a replacement cost of 0 count as uncovered on your Insurance page.

You can always come back and fill these in later by editing the item.
