Rooms

Organize your gear by room or space within a studio, and delete rooms you no longer need.

Rooms let you group gear by where it lives — a Control Room, Live Room, ISO booth, storage area, and so on. Each room belongs to exactly one studio.

The Rooms page

The Studio → Rooms tab lists every room in your studio. Each room appears as a card showing:

  • the room's photo (or a placeholder when no photo has been set)
  • the room's name
  • your studio name and address
  • a row of up to five equipment thumbnails — one per item that has a photo. When there are more than five thumbnails, the last tile shows a +N count of the additional items.
  • the equipment value — the sum of the estimated current values of all active (non-archived) items in that room. Items with no computable estimate contribute $0 to this total. Selecting the value takes you to the Inventory filtered to that room's gear — see below.
  • when the room was added (Added on), and by whom, when the creator's name is available.

Room card photo

The main photo on a room card is the first image in that room's gallery. For rooms created or edited before the gallery feature shipped, the card falls back to the single legacy image instead.

Edit a room

Each room card has a pencil icon button. Selecting it opens the Edit room dialog for that room.

Unlike deleting, editing is never disabled — you can rename or re-photo the sole room in a studio without restriction.

The Edit room dialog

The dialog opens pre-filled with the room's current name and its current photo gallery.

Editing is not tier-gated. A trial account that cannot add a second room can still rename or update the photos of an existing one.

Rename a room

Change the text in the Room name field and select Save changes. The name is trimmed before saving, so leading and trailing spaces are removed. A blank name is rejected with an inline error before any server call is made.

If another room in the studio already has the same name (the check is case-insensitive), an inline error appears: "A room with this name already exists." The dialog stays open so you can try a different name.

Edit room photos

The Edit room dialog uses the same shared photo gallery used elsewhere in OneTake. You can add photos, remove photos, and reorder them. The first photo in the gallery is always the one shown on the room card.

When you save, the full ordered gallery and the primary photo are persisted together. The primary (image_path) is kept in sync with the first photo in the gallery automatically — reordering to put a different photo first is how you change the card's main image.

When every photo is removed, the room card shows a placeholder instead of an image.

Photos are uploaded to storage the moment you add them to the gallery, before you save. If you cancel or close the dialog without saving, any photos you added during that session are removed from storage automatically.

After saving

The dialog closes, the room list refreshes, and a snackbar confirms: "<Room name>" updated.

Delete a room

Each room card has a trash icon button. Selecting it opens the Delete Room dialog.

The last room cannot be deleted

A studio must always have at least one room. When your studio has only one room, the trash button on that card is disabled. Hovering over it shows the tooltip "A studio must keep at least one room". The dialog never opens in this state.

When your studio has more than one room, the button is enabled and opens the dialog for the room you selected.

Rooms with no gear

When the room being deleted has no gear assigned to it, the dialog shows a simple confirmation. No destination is required. Selecting Delete room removes the room immediately.

After the delete, a snackbar confirms: "<Room name>" deleted.

Rooms that hold gear

When the room has gear in it, deleting it requires you to choose a destination first. A Move gear to picker appears listing every room you have access to, excluding the room being deleted.

The Delete room button stays disabled until you pick a destination.

When you confirm, OneTake moves all gear in the room to the chosen destination and removes the room in a single atomic operation — either both happen or neither does.

After the delete, a snackbar confirms: "<Room name>" deleted, and its gear moved to <destination room>.

Destination picker — multiple studios

If you own more than one studio, the picker includes rooms from all of your studios. The rooms from the studio you are currently working in appear first. When rooms from more than one studio are listed, each option is labeled with its studio name — for example, Studio A · Storage.

Moving gear to a room in another studio requires you to own both studios. If you don't, the delete is rejected and an error appears inside the dialog.

Errors

When something goes wrong, an error message appears inside the dialog and the dialog stays open so you can try again or choose a different destination. The room and its gear are never changed by a failed delete.

The messages you may see:

SituationMessage
The destination you chose is no longer available"That room is no longer available. Pick another."
You don't own both studios in a cross-studio move"You must own both studios to move gear between them."
The room no longer exists"This room no longer exists."
Any other unexpected error"Could not delete the room. Please try again."
